Hi-Lift’s Load Master

Slide-N-Lock Rails Install

story & photography by Trent Riddle

Slide-N-Lock kits come in four different lengths. Here you see the 7-inch and 22-inch kits. These are the best lengths for your Jeep right off the shelf.

Carrying Cargo in your 4x4 can be problematic, especially on the trail. Bumping over rough trails can turn the back of your rig into a mix master. Your unsecured gear is likely to bounce around and can even be tossed right out of the back under extreme conditions. The solution is to secure your gear by lashing it down. Perhaps the best way to do this is through the use of the Slide-N-Lock Tie-Down System from Hi-Lift. This versatile tie-down setup consists of anodized aluminum rails and adjustable stainless steel slides that can be used to secure your gear.

Slide-N-Lock sets come with two anodized aluminum rails, two stainless-steel locking slides, and the required mounting hardware. They are available in black or silver finish. The locking slides are adjustable and can be locked into place every five inches. This allows you to adjust your tie-down points to suit your load. Also, additional slides can be purchased to add to the system’s versatility.

Slide-N-Lock sets are available in 7-inch, 22-inch, 68-inch and 93-inch lengths to fit any application, If you need different lengths, you can mix and match kits as well as modify longer kits to suit your personal needs. They are great for Jeeps Trucks, Trailers, SUVs, and more.

Installation is simple. All you need to do is drill 1/4-inch mounting holes to match the rails and then bolt the rails in place. Of course, you have to be sure what you’re drilling into, but that’s the same anytime you drill holes into your rig.

1. After finding the location for your Slide-N-Lock rails, mark the mounting holes, check under the body for any obstacles, like the gas tank, and drill 1/4-inch mounting holes.

2. The Slide-N-Lock rails are then bolted into place with the provided hardware.

3. Here you can see the use of a 22-inch rail along the floor and a 7-inch rail behind our Tuffy box mounted on top of the fender well.

4. Slide-N-Lock rails have self-locating holes placed every 5 inches along their lengths. One can position the locking slides where you need them in seconds by simply pulling the spring-loaded locking pins up and sliding it to the specific locating hole you want to use.

5. Nylon cargo staps, sold separately, are a great way to lash your cargo to the Slide-N-Lock rails.

6. With your cooler and other gear secured with the Slide-N-Lock system, you won’t have to worry about them bouncing around in the back of your rig, even on the roughest trails.
